The eleventh annual Rally to Read takes place from May 2008. For the first time in 2008 there will be ten Rallies, after the addition of a second Rally in Mpumalanga.

Annually, during weekends in May, sponsors in convoys of off-road vehicles depart from cities to deliver educational materials to some of SA's most rural and neglected schools. READ follows up the resource delivery with a three-year teacher and school management training programme.

Since 1998 this programme has helped more than 100'000 rural school children with funding of more than R21 million. Each year sponsors donate money for libraries, science kits, stationery, sports equipment, beanies and clocks.
